Be careful when using colour in your garden
Colours and their varying hues have an enormous influence on the mood and perception of a garden layout. Whatever theme or feel you’re trying to convey in your style is heavily influenced by the colours you opt to utilise, in both plant and material choice.
What are you trying to make? A design that’s meant to be relaxing and permit you to unwind may have a coastal/water theme and include blues, violets and purples together with the backdrop of green. Or, you may instead choose an English garden theme and utilise more pinks and yellows with light-hued rock to create a warm and welcoming feel.
As you can see, the selection of colour is imperative to carrying off the ideal mood successfully. Your favourite colour may be blue, but if you want a garden design that’s tropical and dramatic, your colour strategy will have to include oranges and reds set from the green for a bright and dramatic effect. Blue would detract too much from this result if over-used.
Whatever style you choose for your garden layout, be sure that you pay careful attention to your use of colour inside it. This could make or break the effect of your design!
